Attend the 2019 East Coast Surfing Championships
2019-07-25 14:59:15The 2019 East Coast Surfing Championships are North America’s oldest running surfing competition and the second oldest continuously-run surfing contest in the world. August 18th to the 25th, 2019 on the Virginia Beach oceanfront.
The East Coast Surfing Championships (ECSC) have been held annually in Virginia Beach, VA since 1963. The event had its start a year earlier when a group of Long Island teens got together for a beach and surf party. The rest, as they say, is now history.
The Championships remain one of the United States Surfing Federation’s major amateur events. 100’s of surfers, both professional and amateur, come each year to compete for cash and prizes of more than $120,000.
More Than Just Surfing
While the ECSC is definitely a surfing event, that’s not all it has to offer. The Championships retain some of their original beach party pedigree with lots of other fun activities throughout the week.
Beyond all the professional and amateur surfing heats, there will also be a BMX Monster Jump, TVA Volleyball, Miss ECSC competition, and more.
The East Coast Surfing Championships also include live entertainment. This year’s headliners include Sublime tribute band Badfish on Friday and UK reggae legends Steel Pulse on Saturday. Full lineups for both days will be announced soon.
ECSC also sees lots of surfing gear vendors, food trucks, impromptu beach games, parties, and other special events. Come enjoy the fun all week long on the Virginia Beach oceanfront!
