Rosslyn Jazz Fest 2018 - the All-Day FREE Concert In Arlington, VA

The 28th annual Rosslyn Jazz Fest is a free, all-day jazz concert held at Gateway Park in Arlington, VA. Saturday, September 8, 2018.

Rosslyn Jazz Fest is a free, one-day event that is the perfect capper to any music-lover's summer. The event has been an Arlington tradition for nearly 30 years, bringing a host of both jazz fans and musicians to the city every September. Last year's festival brought a record-breaking crowd of more thab 10,000 people to Gateway Park.

This year's festival, headlined by two-time Grammy award winner Cory Henry, is likely to attract similar numbers. Henry and his band, The Funk Apostles, are currently touring in support of their recently released "Art of Love" album. The group's unique blend of blues, soul, R&B, Afrobeat, gospel, and jazz will bowl you over.

Orquesta Akokán, one of Cuba’s most critically acclaimed bands, will also perform at Rosslyn Jazz Fest 2018. Their style has been described as “a loving tribute to the sax and brass-driven orchestras" and "one, giant rhythm machine”. Rosslyn Jazz Fest marks the band's D.C.-area debut.

Seattle’s eight-piece soul band, the True Loves will also be on hand. Their classic soul sounds and undeniable grooves are too good to stay confined to the Pacific Northwest.

D.C.’s own Aztec Sun rounds out the Rosslyn Jazz Fest 2018 roster. Aztec Sun's infectious "Funk with Soul” has seen them named Best Local Original Band in both 2016 and 2017 by the Washington City Paper. The 10-member ensemble produces an upbeat, retro, Funk and Soul groove with overtones of Jazz, Afrobeat and Motown-era pop.

Outside the 6 hours of free live jazz, Rosslyn Jazz Fest also features excellent food for purchase from local food trucks. Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available from several bar areas within Gateway Park.
