Locally Owned Cville Restaurants are Sure To Please

Hungry? If you're visiting Charlottesville, you've got plenty of choices for places to eat! Here at The Inn at Monticello, we love sharing all the many fine, locally owned Cville restaurants that the area has to offer. You can see our full list of restaurant recommendations here. However, this time we thought we'd zero in on three very different restaurants, each with a passion for exquisite cuisine. All three offer delicious high-quality food.

3 Restaurants, 1 Big Commitment

revolutionary soupFirst up is Revolutionary Soup.  Think casual for this gem of a restaurant. Using only fresh, local ingredients from eco-friendly, organic farms, they have their own creative spin on classic preparations. With local sources like Polyface Farms, Oakhill Farm Pork, and Timbercreek Farms, Will Richey, owner of Revolutionary Soup, has a strong commitment to quality and flavor. You'll find soups (always freshly prepared), sandwiches, and wraps as tempting as they are delicious. You'll also love their curried chicken salad, tarragon apple chicken salad, and Mediterranean tuna salad. There are two locations, downtown, and The Corner. They also serve beer and wine. Will has a knack for finding what he calls "off the radar" wines from around the world. Mas Tapas celebrates dining by embracing traditional foods from the Mediterranean, Europe, and Spain. It, too, is a casual restaurant that features locally produced organic Mas Tapas Restaurantmeats, vegetables, honey, and grains. Mas bills itself as the "antidote" to fast food, and with good reason! Blending traditional Arabic, African, European, and Asian cuisines with "cutting edge food explorations," it's a marvel for your mouth! Mas also features wood-fired artisanal brick oven breads, slow-cooked braises of colchinillo asado, pastries, fresh seafood, and paellas.
We promise you won't be disappointed! Hamilton's at First & Main is a long time favorite Cville restaurant. Located in the historic downtown mall, it's been in the area for 20 years. Business casual is the usual dress Hamilton's at First & Main Dessertcode, and it's perfect for either a romantic dinner or a delicious lunch. With entrees ranging from their "Vegetarian Blue Plate Special," (Cauliflower Tabouleh, Kale Salad, Mushroom and Caromont Chevre Tart, Crispy Fried Eggplant with Sesame-Ginger Sauce and Roasted Acorn Squash with a Pomegranate Molasses) to Grilled Seven Hills Beef Tenderloin, it's an outstanding dining experience. Like so many restaurants in Charlottesville, these three have an incredible commitment to quality. You can't go wrong! If you want more restaurant choices, just ask us! We're happy to help.
