Fenton Inn, A European Bed and Breakfast

We're guessing you've never visited a
b & b quite like this one. The Fenton Inn isn't old or historic, but it's definitely a classic, especially if you are interested in European history, architecture and art!
With cobblestone streets, an entire village, town square, bakery, clock tower, gym, theater, spa, and store, you're not in Kansas any more, Dorothy. No, you're in medieval Germany.
You can window shop the many half-timber facades inspired by Bavarian timber frame. All of the figures on the buildings have historical significance. For example, the Grudger head protects you from evil and envy.
You'll also find a curved window display that is filled with historic tools from both America and Europe. Many of these pieces were used on museum restoration projects for Robert E. Lee and Thomas Jefferson.
In fact, you'll find Jefferson's influence throughout the village with octagons, half-octagons, and a cantilevered octagonal tower, which is called an
oriel window.
But the windows are not the only curved pieces at Fenton Inn. The length of Main Street is curved to perspective (it tricks your eyes). When you take a stroll down the street, it looks longer than it actually is. You'll have to walk all the way to the end to see the ornate facades on each of the various buildings!
Inside Fenton Inn
The inside is just as impressive. The lobby has oak timbers that soar in a full arch, inspired by medieval churches.

Each room has different shapes and styles. If you
want to see them all, just come back and visit us!
Walls are curved and boast brightly colored stuccos.
Because there are so many variations in the rooms and ceilings, the Fenton Inn has a complex roof line. You'll see many different towers and gables with the occasional hummingbird or gargoyle weathervane perched on top.
What's more, trees from the land were milled to create custom designed cabinetry and furniture in the inn. There are one of a kind styles of timber frames and mosaic doors throughout the building.
What's even more fun, if possible, is to find tree trunks that frame a giant window! It's like you're still in the forest.
