The Speckled Trout B&B, a BBAV Inn, selected to be on the 81st Historic Garden Week; The Garden Club of Virginia’s unique, state-wide home and garden tour. Saturday May 3, 2014 (10a.m.–5 p.m.). “Each spring visitors are welcomed to more than 250 of Virginia's most beautiful gardens, homes and historic landmarks during "America's Largest Open House." This 8-day, statewide event provides visitors a unique opportunity to see unforgettable gardens at the peak of Virginia's springtime color, as well as beautiful houses sparkling with over 2,000 fabulous flower arrangements created by Garden Club of Virginia members”. The Speckled Trout B&B, located in Waynesboro’s historic Tree Streets neighborhood, has been selected as one of two homes in Waynesboro, Virginia, to be toured on the 2014 Garden Club of Virginia’s home and garden tour. The B&B, decorated in the Virginia Hunt Country Style, opened in 2011. Alaskans for 30 years, the owners have returned to Virginia and have successfully blended traditional furnishings and antiques with sporting culture that conveys a refined sense of comfort and adventure. The home reflects the many travels and expeditions that this couple have enjoyed together not only in Alaska but around the world. The home is decorated throughout with fly-fishing related art and historic artifacts, including an exquisitely etched family genealogy spanning back to 1525. The Speckled Trout is the designated VIP Home for the Virginia Fly Fishing Festival each year and host home of the Shenandoah Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Many notable fly fishermen, authors and artists from around the country have overnighted here in the luxurious guest rooms and have enjoyed the privacy of informal gardens on the rear brick patio for morning coffee and complimentary evening desserts. Open for the first time for Historic Garden Week, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Heafner, owners. Tour proceeds fund the restoration and preservation of Virginia's historic gardens.
