“Quickly, bring me a beaker of wine, so that I may wet my mind and say something clever.” --Aristophanes
This weekend, August 30- September 2, 2013, is Epicurience Virginia, a “wine and food festival two hundred years in the making” that takes place in various parts of Loudon, VA. Now, you may be wondering about the name of this debut festival: Epicurience. If you’re not familiar with the word, don’t feel bad, as it’s entirely made up. Epicurience Virginia is a “festival so unique that no existing name quite fit” (EpicVirginia.com). So the event creators took the epic occurrence and mashed it together with the epic experience promised to all attendees, and “Epicurience” was formed.
That’s a great deal of festival build up, so what can you expect to find during the weekend activities? In the briefest of summaries, you’ll find wine tastings, seminars, culinary demonstrations, live music, and “wine swag” for sale. (Click here for a full list of daily activities. After a long day of enjoyment, you’ll most likely need a place to rest your head and recover for either another day of festivities or the journey home. In either case, a nearby Inn Virginia member will complete your Epicurience weekend:
Briar Patch B&B
Goodstone Inn
Middleburg Country Inn
Berryville Inn
The Ashby Inn and Restaurant
