Loving and Running a Virginia B&B Go Hand in Hand

Bay Haven Inn of Cape Charles has officially been inspected and approved by the Bed and Breakfast Association of Virginia (BBAV). Heidi Lanford, BBAV President, adds, “As members of BBAV, innkeepers strive to provide the highest quality experience to guests. Because the Bay Haven Inn has taken the time to go through our inspection and obtain all the licenses, certificates and permits, it goes to show dedication to operate their B&B as a legitimate business.” The owners, Tammy and Jim Holloway, most recently from northern Virginia, escaped the rat race of the nation’s capital to create a “haven” on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.  They have always believed that B&Bs were a romantic experience, and as eHarmony’s Virginia Couple of the Year 2006, they are no strangers to romance. The couple reminisces about how they fell in love at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. “In fact it was at this time of year when I packed a picnic for us to enjoy as we took in the magical beauty of the blossoms surrounding the tidal basin,” said Jim. He reflects on how he introduced his chocolate ganache sauce to Tammy through the triple chocolate brownies he baked for the picnic that spring day. Now a guest favorite at the Bay Haven Inn of Cape Charles, the infamous chocolate ganache is the delectable topping to their Peanut Butter Banana Waffles. The Holloways bought the inn in 2011 and continue with restoration and preservation of the historic home. Opening their B&B at the end of 2012, the Holloways have truly enjoyed running the business, fulfilling the need for a romantic haven to escape busy life. “Earning the BBAV seal of approval was an important step in the process of opening a B&B, passing the inspection is seal of approval that says we have met the quality standards developed by our peers in the industry,” said Tammy. “It says to our future guests that you have been inspected by an objective person and have met the high standards of Virginia B&Bs.”
