The Motorcycle Grand Tour of Virginia, 2012

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, ‘Wow! What a Ride!’”  --Hunter S. Thompson The Motorcycle Grand Tour of Virginia is designed to promote motorcycle safety, and awareness, and above all else, it is intended to provide motorcyclists with a unique touring opportunity. Virginia is a place of variety. From the Blue Ridge Mountains to Chincoteague Island, there are a vast number of areas that appeal to all different interests. For history enthusiasts, there are presidential homes, historic sites and battlefields. For wine and beer lovers, there are a myriad of vineyards and breweries. And then, of course, there are the sites—sprawling cities, charming towns, forested mountains, and salt-scented beaches. No matter the destination, the sites along the ride are half the fun! The Grand Tour includes official stops all across Virginia, where motorcyclists can obtain passport stamps. Once a certain number of stamps are collected, riders become eligible for some fantastic Virginia prizes. On November 10, 2012, a barbecue will be held in Orange, VA, where those with the most number of passport stamps will receive their prizes. So, how exactly does one go about signing up for this Motorcycle Grand Tour? Click here, then click the “Buy Now” button to start the registration process. (Although Paypal is the preferred method of registration payment, it is not required.) Once completed, you will receive your Grand Tour registration package, including your passport (which will be mailed towards the beginning of April). Registered riders who then stay at a BBAV member inn will be entered into a drawing for a $200 BBAV gift certificate. Happy Riding! By Tara Stoll
